アカデミー賞の本質。
本日、アカデミー賞が発表になりました。
今回、“アカデミー賞”というモノの
性質というか、本質がモロに出た感じがする。
それも遠慮のない出方で。
要するに、今年は
“アメリカ映画業界人”の
“アメリカ映画業界人”による
“アメリカ映画業界人”のための映画賞
というアカデミー色が、いつも以上に明確に出てしまい、
いつも以上に“質”に対する客観的に正当な評価が
なされなかった。
結果、映画界の功労者である
マーティン・スコセッシが主要賞を総なめすることに。
確かにマーティン・スコセッシはこれまで
合計７回ほどノミネートされながら一度も
受賞できなかったある意味、可哀想な巨匠だ。
（それにはいろいろ問題はあるのだが別の機会に）
それゆえ、ある程度の作品と
圧倒的に強力なライバルがいないタイミングで
賞をあげようじゃないかという空気が
ここのところのアメリカ映画業界で
蔓延していたのではなかろうか。
知らんけど。
その結果、ノミネートの中で考えると
大した作品でもない『ディパーテッド』が
作品賞と監督賞のＷ受賞をはじめとした、
４冠という状況になったと思われる。
知らんけど。
そんな、癖のあるアカデミー賞だけど、
全ての映画賞の中で世間的に最も影響度は大きく、
受賞した事によって、作品が盛り返したり、
ヒットするケースは大いに考えられる。
世の中ってそんなもんなんで。
ただ、ひとつだけ、薄っぺらでも映画に
関わる人間として主張しておきたいのは、
“アカデミー賞受賞作品＝素晴らしい作品”
という等式は必ずしも成立しない事だけは
忘れてはいけない。
所詮は、仲間内の相互ほめほめ条約なのだ。
要するに、言いたかった事はコレ。
『バベル』、ついてなかったね。
なお、『リトル・ミス・サンシャイン』が
脚本賞を受賞したのは、彼らのためにも
よかったと思う。
